(9 yrs old) Good with kids, dogs large and small, and cats!
Hey Everyone! It's my great pleasure to introduce ya'll to one of our newest Rescue's, Fritzy. Ohhhh, what a wonderful girl she is! I am her foster mom and have had Fritzy for about a week now. She is hands-down the easiest foster I've ever had )) So, sit back and let me tell you a few things about her..
Unlike many dogs that come into Rescue from a shelter, we actually know a little bit about her previous life history. We know her previous owner adopted her from a registered breeder. We know her owner had her spayed and micro-chipped. Also, must have given her heartworm meds because she is heartworm negative. We know she was kept as an indoor dog, crate trained, house-trained, and taught some basic obedience. We also know that she was an only dog and lived with her family for 9 yrs. Yes, Miss Fritz is 9yrs old, but shhhh!! don't tell her that. She thinks she's 6! Act your age Fritzy, not your shoe size!! We also know that her family fell on some hard times and could no longer keep her. That's how she wound up at the shelter. Luckily for Fritzy, a GSRA volunteer spotted her and said, "No way are you going to end up like this" The wonderful volunteer(s) pulled her from the shelter and Fritzy came to my house to hang out with me and my gang while she waits for a home.
Although 9yrs old, Fritzy still has Lots of pep in her step. She wakes up bright-eyed and bushy tailed ready to go for a walk and greet the day with gusto. She is as beautiful as she is smart. She settled right into my gang of 5 dogs, 6 cats and 2 teenage kids. She walks well on a leash and likes to ride in the car. She is an excellent passenger. She has an impressive GSD bark, but uses it judiciously. Only to alert us if someone is coming up the driveway or if a deer is eating my favorite plants.
Doesn't she sound wonderful?! Now, we all know, nobody's perfect and same goes for Fritz. It seems that she was fed table scraps in her old life. That girl can beg better than a Charles Dickens character!. She will dumpster dive if given the chance. Don't leave a steak marinating on the counter if you plan on cooking it for yourself. Heck, I can say the same thing about 2 of my personal dogs, so I don't hold it against her, just try to correct her. She takes gentle, but firm correction very well.
In short Fritzy is a gem of a dog. She gets along with dogs and cats (all sizes) and kids. She walks well on a leash, is housetrained, crate-trained, knows some obedience. She's got a clean bill of health and is ready and waiting for a family to spend the rest of her Golden Years with. Will it be you?
