This dog was going to be taken to the animal shelter by a co worker of mine. He was not the aggressive guard dog she wanted. After discussing this with my husband we decided to take him in and see if we could find a home for him. He may have been in an abusive situation prior to my co worker owning him. He is easily frightened by men, however my husband has been working on getting him past this fear. We have had him for 5 weeks now and he has changed dramatically since the first day. He is very fond of women and our other two dogs, he loves to run and play. A fenced in yard would be ideal for him. I think he would be fine with older children who could handle a larger size dog.

To date he has shown absolutely no agression towards myself, my husband or our dogs. Once the right home is found for him I know he will be a gentle and loyal pet. We have had a rabies shot given to him and have scheduled to have him neutered this week.

We have also had him tested for heart worms. (unfortunately the test came back positive.) Our vet recommended we put him on heart worm prevention to keep him from getting any additonal worms. He was a weak positive and since he is young and healthy the vet stated that he could actually out live the worms he has and test negitvie the next time he is tested. For this reason he will need to stay on the preventative medicine. To date he has had two monthly heart worm pills and I will continue to keep him on them as long as he is in our home.

This big guy has had a tough past three years and we just want to make sure he finds a happy forever home. Please consider him if you are looking for a sweet pure breed German Shepherd.
