German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Senior : : Large
(9 years old) Hi, I’m Wolfie and I am appropriately named because I howl like a wolf whenever a siren goes by. If you don't have many emergency vehicles in your area, you may never hear me use my primal vocals!
I am 8 or 9 years old, but you would never know it to look at me. I was heartworm positive, but I've received treatment and have done well and I am on preventative medicine now and it will protect me from now on. I love my people and I want to be with my people all the time. I don’t love my crate, but I will go into it because I know my foster mom and dad know what’s best for me. I sleep through the night and I settle right away when told to. So, please, won’t you let me charm you? Foster Mom: Wolfie is such a sweet dog. To be left at a house when his owners moved and then dumped at an animal shelter would make anybody mistrustful. But Wolfie is very trusting and he is a velcro dog, he will stick by your side. He is housebroken, crate trained (though, as he said, he’s not crazy about the crate), doesn’t get on the furniture and will not jump up on you. He truly loves to be with his people and seems to get along with other dogs and he loves children. He does tend to be mouthie, but we are working on that. He is an older dog, so he’s moderately active, likes to walk and play with other dogs, but he’s content to lie in the same room with you and hang out. Wolfie is not an excessive barker, but he does talk when you have been away and he lets you know how glad he is to see you. He’ll also let you know when anyone is around, because he will prick up his ears and go to a window or door to look out. He’s got a bit of arthritis in his back legs, but hey, who of us who are a little older doesn’t? He takes Rimadyl to help with that. He sees and hears well and honestly, if the vet had not told us that he was 8 or 9, we would NEVER have guessed it. If you want someone to walk with, talk with and hang around with, Wolfie is your dog!
