RANGER ~1 year old. Good with kids, dogs and cats.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.

Who’s a good boy? Ranger!!! He’s a very good boy and loves to be told so. Ranger is a young, playful and engaging pup with a heart full of love and devotion who can’t wait to find his forever home.

Ranger’s backstory: He was found by a rural vet on the road outside her office in July. She tried to find the owner, with no luck. Ranger then lived in the vet’s office for a while before moving to a temporary foster - who had 3 dogs, 10 (TEN!) cats, and 2 young children! So, it’s pretty safe to say, Ranger is good with EVERYTHING!

Ranger is currently living with one other dog in a GSRA foster home. He is crate trained, and housebroken. He crates easily and it is his safe space to go. Ranger is fed in his crate; he runs to it and sits quietly while his meal is being prepared. He loves to take toys into his crate and it has to be emptied every evening so he has room to sleep in his crate for the night. Although he wants to be close to his person, he is content resting in his crate when necessary and doesn’t exhibit any signs of separation anxiety.

Ranger doesn’t bark when he sees people or dogs walking by or when someone rings the doorbell. He just watches quietly. While on walks he greets other dogs appropriately when allowed and just walks past them when directed. He is quite well-behaved in public and would be a great companion to take on all outings, whether it be hikes, out to eat or to a child's soccer game.

Ranger is medium energy level, even-tempered and mild-mannered, but still a playful puppy. He is past the inappropriate chewing stage. After some exercise and play, Ranger is content to entertain himself in the house with a chew toy or just chill near his person. He would be great for someone who works from home or for a person who could take their dog to work with them as he LOVES being near his person. He follows his foster mom everywhere and lays quietly at her feet while she is working.

Ranger is a bit shy when first meeting a new person but warms up quickly. He appreciates and welcomes all the loving attention he is given. Although he loves human attention, he isn’t pushy when asking for it.

Ranger knows basic commands and catches on very quickly. Ranger sits before being leashed to go outside, his stay is coming along well and his outdoor come/recall is fairly solid. He wants to please his person and it only takes gentle guidance and correction to show him what is expected of him. He responds best to praise and being told he is A GOOD BOY!

It has been a pleasure to see him blossom in the short time he has been with us. He is a fun loving and easy dog. The family that adopts Ranger is going to get an amazing new family member.
