Sadie is a sweet, loving, and loyal, one- to two-year-old female German Shepherd who would make a wonderful addition to a home looking for one dog. She is the perfect dog - housebroken, lounges around when you are at home, only begs for food if you are cooking meat, and will occasionally cuddle. Since she was a stray when I took her in, she may get into some puppy-like mischief (despite being 75 lbs) while unattended but she has learned quickly with correction - especially if caught red-pawed! While she has made some progress crate-training, my other dog free-roams and she did not like that as she wanted the same level of freedom he had as well - she does willingly sprint to her crate to eat her meals and will sleep in there on occasion. Walks are simple with a prong collar; just ask her to sit (she may lay down, ha) to put her collar on. On walks, she will sit while you are picking up her droppings and when you see another dog come by, just make the leash taut and ask her to "leave it" and she will observe the dog pass by. Car rides are fun for her as she will willingly hop in (I drive a lifted Jeep) and occasionally look out the window or just sleep. Sadie has been spayed, micro-chipped, is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and is very food-motivated (i.e. easy to train).
The only reason I am re-homing her is she plays too rough with my four-year-old German Shepherd male; play with humans is only at your discretion and will often just chew her own toys at her leisure. The layout of my home is not conducive to keeping them separate from each other long-term - it would not be fair to either dog. Furthermore, I travel very frequently for work (up to three days weekly as overnight trips) and we are expecting a newborn in December, so we do not have the bandwidth to continue training. The ideal home for Sadie would just be a home where the individual does not frequently travel as much as I do who has the time to train/bond with her. Given her rough natured play with other dogs, I would recommend she go to a home as a sole dog and only be allowed to play under supervision. If I did not have my other dog first, I would absolutely keep her - it is therefore with a very heavy heart that I am trying to find her forever home. She has too much potential to be surrendered to a shelter and I want to do everything I realistically can to make the transition as smooth as possible for her sake - she deserves that after living as a stray. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A GSRA DOG. ONLY CONTACT THIS INDIVIDUAL ABOUT THIS DOG. THE CONTACT HAS NO AFFILIATION WITH GSRA AND GSRA CANNOT ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS DOG.
