Hello everyone, my name is Argos! I am a super fluffy, adorable, and happy guy that you just know you want to give a fur-ever home. I’m not even a year old yet, but I’m pretty well-behaved and mature for a (big) little baby. Of course, I am still a puppy, so sometimes I sure do love to grab humans’ unattended items and give them a bite-mark makeover—don’t say I didn’t warn you!
My foster parents say I’m extremely smart, and once they’ve tricked me into something once, they can’t trick me into doing it again. I tend to agree, so you’ll need a somewhat firm hand to wrangle me. However, I am very meager to please and will obey commands for treats. Even treats I don’t like and will immediately spit out! As long as there’s a treat involved, I’ll be paying attention. My foster parents can reliably get me to sit, I’ll usually lay down if you explain what “down” means, and I know my name! Just because I know it doesn’t mean I will always pay attention when you call for me, though. I am learning the importance of coming to my humans when they call me, and whoever decides to make me their new family member will need to be patient and willing to teach me.
I am not very anxious or shy, and love meeting new strangers! I can perhaps be a little overly exuberant and I like to stand up on my hind legs like all my bipedal human friends, but my fosters tell me some people don’t like having a large dog jumping up on them. You’ll have to continue to remind me of that! I am also great with my other canine pals, I’ve been around dogs of all ages and genders, and have yet to find one I can’t vibe with. I have not, however, spent time with any small dogs but I don’t think I would mind them.
Cats, well I’m not so sure about those cats. I enjoyed my time with one adult female cat and was respectful, but it’s hard to resist the urge to chase ‘em and bark and whine. I’m so curious about them! My fosters are still working on introducing me to cats safely, but I would be remiss to not warn you that I just might need to tackle your cat if you have one. Safe introductions are crucial!
I am very playful and love to follow my people around, sometimes nuzzling them and demanding that they pay attention to me. I! Love! Attention! You can sometimes distract me by letting me run around outside or putting a toy in my mouth, but to be honest, not a huge fan of dog toys. I did like my foster siblings’ cat toys, and will even chase a laser! But much to my foster parents’ chagrin, my absolute favorite toys are disposable water bottles… preferably with a lot of water left so I can help… uh…… launder your bedding? You just pour water on it, right? Anyway, I can entertain myself and can spend lots of time with other dogs, but if you expect a measly chew toy to occupy me, you’ll be disappointed. Sorry! Maybe someone will find me a perfect toy that I haven’t tried yet?
Overall, I’m told I’m an excellent boy with a bright future. I’m not as high-maintenance as you might expect for a 9-month old GSD pup, though knowing how to deal with me is important. I’m okay with leashes, but I’m also very okay with yanking the leash as hard as I can when I see something interesting. I’m eager to keep learning how to be the best dog I can be, and with just a little time and patience, my foster parents know I will be an incredible addition to someone’s family. So what do you think, wanna meet me and see how we get along?
P.S. — As photographed, I have the absolute cutest little ears that curl at the tops, only fully extending when I hear something interesting. My vet told me this was her favorite thing about me, and people seem to absolutely adore them. You will too.
