NICO ~1-2 years old. Good with dogs and cats. Kids TBD.
GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.
Nico wants to hold your hand!
It really does not get much sweeter than Nico. His fosters call him the "angel boy". Nico first came to GSRA through a request from a municipal shelter from the coast. Nico was found as a stray and became a favorite among the shelter staff, but he was getting overlooked by potential adopters because he was shy and overwhelmed in the loud kennel setting, and he was quickly running out of time. Thankfully, GSRA was able to grab Nico in time, and we have since gotten to see Nico absolutely thrive in the home setting.
Nico has down wonderful with dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes. He has a very adaptable greeting and play style that makes playful young dogs, nervous small dogs, and quiet senior dogs all feel comfortable around him. The resident cat in his foster home deemed him "cat friendly" within an hour of his arrival - she did not even pretend to be intimidated by him for a second, she knew he was a kind soul! But more than anything, Nico LOVES his people. He will do anything to please and his love language is most certainly physical touch.
Nico is still working on some obedience skills, but he is a natural on leash, crate-trained, and 100% house-trained (has never had an accident!). He has proven himself trustworthy out of the crate overnight, but if left to free-roam during the day he may occupy himself with interior decorating (pulling toilet paper around the house) or making arts & crafts for you (shredding loose papers). For a young GSD, his exercise needs are relatively calm. He has the stamina for a longer hike or adventure with you, but an average day can easily be just 3-4 short walks. He would rather be cuddling!
