CHEVY ~1 year old. Good with dogs and cats. Kids TBD. Fenced yard required.
GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.
Chevy is around 1 year old. He is a bouncy teenager and is full of fun and affection. Like most teenagers, he is very friendly and loves to play. He likes meeting other dogs and after a few sniffs will ask them to play with him. His current best friend weighs 28 pounds. They play for hours and Chevy is considerate and plays appropriately.
Chevy has a loving and sweet personality. Like most GSDs, he wants to be with you as much as possible. He is crate trained and rides quietly in the car. We’ve been working on basic training and he is very good with “come.” With encouragement he will “sit” and he is beginning learn “down” and “off.” He wants to please and he will likely learn these commands soon. He is not a barker, but he does make lots of other dog noises.
Chevy lives with 4 cats in my house. These cats lived with a dog previously who was not aggressive and basically ignored them. But sharing a home with cats shouldn’t be much of a problem with some appropriate supervision.
I think the leash was a new experience for him, however he has caught on quickly. I use a prong collar and it is very helpful. He has learned to walk on my left and not to pull too much.
We don’t know if Chevy lived in a house or was kept outside. He loves being in the house with his person. Like any puppy he likes to chew and, despite having many bones and toys, his favorite thing is to chew is shoes that smell like his human. I’ve been working on housebreaking and he is coming along, but has had a few accidents in the house. That training will need to continue.
