ELLA ~10 months old. Good with dogs and older, considerate kids. Cats TBD. Needs companion animal.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.

Ella is an adorable 10-month-old pup. She has had a rough start in her young life. Someone had dumped her and another female to fend for themselves. They were both thin and you could tell they had been on their own for a while. Ella was the smaller of the two and you could tell that she got what little was left of what they could find. You could see all her ribs and hip bones. When she would stand, you could see her sway due to the lack of muscle in her legs. When I first brought her home, she was shy and rested a lot. She was nervous going for a walk down the driveway and would take a nap when we got back home. But after some good steady food, lots of love and attention, her spirits grew and grew. She is learning to relax and be a pup. She’s learning to enjoy love, attention, and belly rubs. She is putting on weight and muscle and now loves going for long walks early in the morning and late evening. She doesn’t care much for the heat, but I can’t blame her for that.

Ella is a sweet pup and on the calmer side. She enjoys playing with a toy or with another pup but doesn’t seem to have the higher energy level that you expect from pups. She has done well with both my male and female dog. Ella does well in the house and has free reign 24/7 with my other two dogs but she is still a pup, so things need to be picked up.   She is okay on a leash and working on some basic commands but will still need someone who is willing to continue her training. She is food motivated so that is always a bonus.

Ella will do best in a home with a companion dog and a fenced yard. She will need a home with a family who can be a little patient with her and give her a chance to understand that she is safe and in a loving home. I haven’t had her around kids, but I think she would be fine with calm, older considerate kids.

Do you have a place in your heart for this sweet little girl?
