SHERLOCK ~6 months old. Good with older, considerate kids and larger dogs. Not good with cats. Needs companion animal.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.

Sherlock is out of puppy jail and looking for his Watson! Sherlock has earned his name well by always trying to investigate how to get the squeaker out of any toy and looking to see if his foster sister has left any food behind. Since Sherlock is still very much a puppy and sometimes uses his mouth when searching he does need to be supervised at all times if he isn’t in his kennel.

Sherlock has not had an accident in his kennel or in the house since coming to GSRA and has been working on his basic commands. He is still learning that strangers and other dogs do not need to be barked at while on his walk. After one correction he is back on track though, this will need constant work as his growing up to make sure he does not become reactive to his surroundings. Sherlock has been pretty easy to train but needs reminders and consistency from everyone in his future home especially when it comes to letting him know what he can and can’t chew. He is currently on a great schedule that consists of short trainings, 40 min walks, backyard time, and naps in his kennel.

For his future family experience with the breed is required and they must be dedicated to training. Sherlock is best behaved when he is mentally tired, his walks currently include training since just the physical part of a walk is not exhausting enough for him. He will not need a canine sibling but could go home with a well matched high energy larger dog. He enjoys pestering his foster sibling in the backyard but inside the house he leaves her alone. He can not go home to a family with cats or small dogs as his drive is high. Since Sherlock is still a puppy and growing he will need a backyard so he can stretch his legs on soft ground to protect his joints.

If you think you could be the Sherlock’s Watson, put in an application or let your screener know! He is ready to cover his forever family in puppy kisses!

Note: Sherlock is still finishing up his last round of shots so he will need to finish these up before being able to go on trial.

PLEASE NOTE: It is GSRA policy that we do not adopt dogs under the age of 1 year to families with children under the age of 8 years old.
