LEO ~3 years old. Good with dogs. Not good with cats. Kids TBD.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.

If you want a dog that will turn heads everywhere you go then Leo might be the one for you. Leo’s a gorgeous, tall, classic Black and Tan who will likely be 90-100lbs at a healthy weight. Leo has a great personality, friendly with new people, house trained, typical velcro sheppie who likes to be where his humans are but doesn’t have any separation anxiety when left. Leo has a high prey drive so no small dogs or cats. Due to his size and high enthusiasm when playing fetch, he would be best in a home without small children. Leo loves to go for a car ride, is a good leash walker but can react to other loud dogs on leash. Leo has medium energy, take him for a 1-2 mile walk or play ball for 15-30 minutes and he’s ready to hang out and relax. Leo enjoys all types of toys and really LOVES HIS BALL!!

Higher than 4ft fence recommended. Leo would be good for a family only wanting one dog or with a non-playing senior dog. He can also live with playful females after careful introductions. He hasn’t been tested with large male dogs to date. Leo knows the basic commands: sit, down and shake, and is learning come and wait. He is crate trained but would prefer a family that is home more so he isn’t crated for long periods. Free roam testing continues, so far Leo has behaved well and free roam time will gradually be increased. No need to worry about Leo jumping up on countertops, he can easily reach items with all 4 feet on the ground!

Leo is heart worm positive and will start treatment in mid-October. He can meet families prior to the start of treatment but will need to wait until mid-late December before moving to his forever family. Leo has behaved wonderfully in his foster home and is excited to find his forever family of his own.
