CHIEF ~2 years old.  Good with dogs.  Kids and cats TBD.  Requires a fenced yard.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only

Hello world! My name is Chief, and I am a big and beautiful sable boy looking for a family of my very own. I am about 2 years old. I am a typical sable...I have high drive and high energy. I am about 70 pounds, and will fill out a bit more as I mature. I am a stunning boy, with a heart of gold...the perfect package.

Not too much is known about my past..I was surrendered/confiscated for neglect....details don't really matter. I was severely underweight, and had super flat feet (carpal luxation) due to poor nutrition/lack of exercise. The shelter folks were very nice to me and got me on the road to recovery, and then reached out to the rescue so that they could help find me a perfect home.

I am doing so much better...I have gained weight, and my feet have improved dramatically. I love to run. I am just loving life, and will happily run laps around the yard at full speed just because it is so much fun. I run a LOT! It is so enjoyable to just race around and feel the wind on my face! I will require a decent sized fenced yard....I need the exercise, and leash walking will not be enough for me. (A fenced yard with an owner who is an avid runner would be heaven!)

I love all people! I am just a big goof. I need to work on my manners a bit...I get really excited when I meet new people and try to jump up on them for hugs...foster mom says this is inappropriate. (We have not have the opportunity to practice much in public due to COVID.) I am really smart, and I do take correction easily, so I am learning to curb my enthusiasm.

I am fairly well mannered in the house, but I am a big puppy...so I do try to play with anything I can find. I am crate trained, so if you have to work or do errands I am fine in my own special room. I will sleep on the bed if you let me...I am a good boy and will lay down by your feet. I do not hog the covers.

I love other dogs, and just want to play. I am a young and energetic chap, and my foster mom says I lack in basic doggie manners. I am a rough and tumble player, so I need a dog friend that is ok with my energetic/obnoxious play style. (in my defense, I do take corrections from other dogs pretty well!)

I am a confident and well rounded boy. I am up for adventures such as hiking and long walks exploring natures. I am looking for a special owner or family that will give me plenty of exercise and love. I will return the favor with lots of love and tail wags! Come and meet me soon, you won't be disappointed!

Hugs,
Chief.
