JESSY ~7 months old. Good with older considerate children and dogs. Cats TBD.
GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only
Jessy is an adorable black medium coat gal who was surrendered to the shelter with 2 other dogs because the family was evicted from their home. She was so frightened at the shelter and had completely shut down and stopped eating. The staff was very concerned and wanted her out. When I went to evaluate Jessy, she would barely allow me to touch her. She hovered in a corner and kept her head and tail low. Fast forward two hours later after she left the shelter and arrived at my house....she met one of my dogs and immediately bonded and we went on a walk through the woods. I did not recognize her as the same dog from the shelter. She opened up, became more playful and confident and made huge strides from shelter life.
Now, 2 weeks later, she is gaining more confidence, interacts with my other large male and female shepherd and is very content. She loves riding in the jeep, taking walks through the woods and playing with toys. When she is not playing, riding or walking, she is settled down by your feet soaking in all the love you can give her. She is house trained and I allow her to free roam in the house and she is a perfect angel. She has learned how to get in and out the doggy door and has made herself right at home. She is not the best eater I have ever had...she reminds me of the typical kid...doesn't like her real food but will pig out on treats if you let her. I would prefer Jessy to have a companion dog because I think she takes cues from the older pups but if you plan to spend a lot of time with her and she is not left for long periods of time by herself, I believe she would make a good single dog too. I believe she will also be one of those shepherds that does not shed a lot as well. She has a beautiful shiny slick black coat. She is stunning.
PLEASE NOTE: It is GSRA policy that we do not adopt dogs under the age of 1 year to families with children under the age of 8 years old.
