PIPER ~1 year old. Good with kids. Not good with dogs or cats. GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC and SC only ** Miss Piper needs to be an only pet! She wants all the love for herself! Needs fenced yard. ** Greetings! My name is Piper, and I am one of the newest additions to the rescue. There is not much known about my past....I was picked up as a stray, was very skinny, and had a nasty injury to my rear leg. The kind shelter staff reached out to us for help. So, a little about me! I am a very striking plush coated girl. I have beautiful colors of tan, mahogany and cream, and I am very soft. I am a medium sized girl, weighing in at about 50 pounds. I am approximately 1-2 years old. My foster mom says I am hoot! I LOVE people, and am very friendly. I have a SUPER high prey drive!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to play fetch! I will play with just about anything that you choose! I enjoy tennis balls and sticks, but I can also lower my standards and fetch pine cones, stuffed toys, rope toys, etc. If you throw it, I will get it! And wait, there's more! I know how to bring the item back to you, and will "Drop" it when you tell me to! How cool is that?? I know, pretty cool!! I figured out that if I bring the item back and release it, the human is more likely to throw it again!! I would really love a family that will play ball with me on a daily basis. I am a very smart girl!! I know sit and down, and am very focused on my human. I have a lot of energy, and and learning how to channel my enthusiasm. I am quite food motivated, and will eagerly watch you and wait for direction. I do get a bit distracted on occasion, but if you call me over, I refocus quickly! I would be great for someone who wants to work on some training with me and teach me some new skills. I would probably really enjoy agility training as I am extremely athletic, fast and nimble! I love attention and adore being petted. I am a bit of a wiggle bug!! I am good in the house. I am crate trained and housebroken and I also walk well on a leash! I will need to be the only pet in the home...with all my spectacular qualities I am more tham enough dog to keep you entertained. My foster mom thinks that I was not socialized as a pup, and therefore I am a bit reactive to other dogs. I do correct well when on a leash, and can be walked around other dogs. Just don't let them get in my face and I am good. I like my space. Foster mom thinks that my reactions are fear based. Also, because of my prey drive, I cannot go to a home with cats or other critters....I will do my best to keep your yard free of squirrels and other furry invaders! So, what do you think? Do I sound like the total package or what?? Come and meet me soon! (PS- Rescue says that I am still under medical review as the vets are still trying to determine what is wrong with my foot/leg. I cannot be adopted until this is resolved.) More about Maya FKA PiperIs Not Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids, Good with Adults, Requires a yard Current Scheduled Events:
