SKY ~2 years old.  Good with dogs.  Kids and cats TBD.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only

Wanted: a home with NO horses. Why is that, you ask? Well, because Miss Sky has a history of doing something to cause them to kick! Or maybe she was doing nothing, and the horse was just ornery. Regardless, Sky somehow got her leg kicked, and that kick caused a pretty nasty break, which is how she ended up with GSRA. Sky has now had some excellent orthopedic surgery to repair the break and is expected to make a full recovery. But better safe than sorry, so we are looking for an equine-free forever home for Sky. :-)
While Sky heals she’s restricted to very short leash walks only out to potty, and no romping or playing. This means it will be another month before we have a full read on her personality and behavior, so please check back for further details then. What we can say at the moment is that she’s very, very sweet with people, even when in significant pain from her broken leg. She’s also friendly with both large and small dogs—in her foster home she lives easily with both a male and female German shepherd. I *think* she will be a dog who likes rough-and-tumble play with other dogs, but it will be another month before we can even think about allowing that. She hasn’t been tested with cats but I think she has a fairly high prey drive, so probably would be a bit too interested in kitties for the ongoing health of said kitty. We will test this once she’s healed.
Sky will not be ready for her forever home until the surgeon signs off on letting her resume full activity. We expect this to happen in the second week of August, so look for her to make her public debut at the August adoption event.
