DANE ~6 months old. Good with older considerate children and dogs. Cats TBD. Needs a companion animal.
GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only
Dane puppy came from the Durham animal shelter in the beginning of May this year. He is 6 months old and ALL wiggly puppy! He has a sweet personality but can be pushy. He was just recently neutered and heartworm checked. He's negative! Dane is new to living in a home, so we have been house/crate training! He's doing great with all that. Now, he WILL wake you around
6 am
or so to go "out", but that's a lot better than you waking up to a wet crate and puppy! Dane sleeps quietly all night in the crate. He loves people and we are working on him not jumping up on them! PUPPY ENTHUSIASM! It is because of this that he needs to have teen children in the home of his adopters, if any at all. Manners Dane baby! He's just a big goof who has no idea how big he is.
This pup could really use a playmate/role model other dog in the home. One young enough to play with him but not so old that they can only play for 10 minutes at a time. Dane is fairly high energy but with proper play and toys he can be quite nice to have around. Dane is SO handsome that he can draw a crowd! So it's very important that someone have a training and socializing plan for this sweet hooligan!
Dane requires a yard with at least a 5' tall fence. He is going to be big, so get ready for it. He loves to go for rides in the car or anywhere you are going. Dane is super social with my dogs but it does take a village to wear him out! Lol! But he loves everyone! Dane tolerates my cats who are smart enough not to move much when he's around (movement makes them prey to a dog). If they walked by him, Dane would be curious and want to check them out! ALL OVER! So, no kitties unless pre-approved by me.
Dane is a handful of pushy, sweet, mouthy-ness who is not for the 1st time dog or GSD owner. I'll tell you all the bad along with the great stuff about Dane. Who is ready for a WHOLE lotta loving from this beautiful special little boy? He's waiting with puppy breath!!!
It is GSRA policy that we do not adopt dogs under the age of 1 to families with children under the age of 8 years old.
