Honey Bear ~2 years old.  Good with dogs.  Not good with female dogs or cats.  Kids TBD.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only

Honey Bear was in a Winston-Salem shelter when I met her on 4/27/18. She is about 1.5 years old and had obviously had puppies within the last few months as her nipples were in the stages of drying up. Poor girl was as thin as all momma dogs get when they give their WHOLE bodies to their litters. When we spayed her the vets informed us that she has a massive load of heartworms and advised us to use a slow-kill 3-shot method for ridding her of them. This method requires a lot of time, so Honey won't be able to be adopted for a few months. We are now working on getting her healthy enough for treatment.

I have found Honey to be a beautiful sweet girl! She is house/crate trained, good and playful with other dogs but a bit dominant with females so I'm wary of placing her in a home with other female dogs. She loves the boy dogs and is a good companion for them. Honey could also be placed as an only dog. She rides well in the car and loves to go places with you! Honey will settle down under a table while you eat a meal or drink coffee happily! She isn't whiny or barky but would love a yard with at least a 5' fence to run around in. Honey could possibly be a condo girl if her energy needs are met on leash. She lives with my cats but not happily nor without constant supervision so I'm saying NO CATS for Honey, it's just not safe.

Honey LOVES being with her people! She is most happy and relaxed when she can hang out close with you. She has everything she wants then. Honey is what we call a "velcro" sheppie. She is high energy outside but comes in and settles down with a toy nicely when she has had her walks/exercise.

Honey Bear is smart, social, fun, beautiful, bossy and sweet! Everything a good female sheppie SHOULD be!!! Honey had a very rough start to her life before GSRA. She deserves all the love, kisses and belly rubs that only the right home can offer her! She's worth the wait people, truly!!

PLEASE NOTE: Honey Bear is not a quick placement, she will not be placed in new home until she completes her HW treatment, any potential adopter must be willing to wait.
