LOIS ~6-7 years old.  Good with kids and dogs after slow introductions and cats.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only

Hi, my name is Lois! I am a sweet middle aged gal about 6 or 7 years old with a mild activity level. I've passed that crazy puppy stage, but I still LOVE to play and get lots of attention. I am a total snuggle bug and want to be close to my person as much as possible. I'm very well behaved too! I just can't contain myself when you say I am a good girl so I flop over for a belly rub. I love those sooo much!!

I know commands too like "sit", "paw", "down", "stay", "back up" and "leave it". I also get along well with cats. I just ADORE considerate children of all ages. I love to follow kids everywhere, play with them and keep close tabs on where they are at all times (that's what a good sheppie does right?). If I could have it my way I would play all day and go for long walks. My hips give me trouble so you have to tell me to take a break. I had surgery on my left hip in January and my foster family is helping me recover. I feel so much better already! I want to run around and play, but I have to pace myself until I'm back to 100%. I have cleared my post-surgery visits, but I can't run around at full steam just yet.

I've come such a long way since the rescue first brought me in. I was heartworm positive and had some bad skin issues. With all the love and care I have received those days are barely a memory. Now I am a happy, healthy, spunky and gorgeous girl that is loving life! Everyone is so proud of the progress I've made. My life has changed so much and I've learned a lot about what is expected of a good dog. I have been working on my doggie social skills and I like to be around other calm dogs just like me. I don't like rowdy dogs that get in my face or jump all over me, so it's best for me to keep my distance from them for now. I do take a little bit to warm up to new adults, but once I get to know you we will be buddies. Please give me some understanding in those areas - I promise I'm a work in progress. I'm housetrained, crate trained, good in the car, good on walks, have good manners and I don't tear up anything. I have been such an angel when I am home alone that I don't even need a crate. I am super sweet, gentle and want to give all of my love.

I can't wait to find my forever home. Could that home be yours?

Please note: Lois went thru FHO surgery in Jan 2019 and will not be placed in a new home until medically cleared.  So any potential home must be willing to wait.
