MAGGIE ~10 months old.  Good with older considerate children and large dogs.  Not good with cats or small dogs.  Needs a companion animal.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only

Hi my name is Maggie and I was first rescued from a back yard breeder by a lovely older couple who did not know how much energy I have (its at lot!!). They asked GSRA for help and so here I am looking for my forever home. I love to run, and play with balls, Frisbees, sticks, you name it, I love to play with it. I like my foster sisters but I can be a little bossy and pushy if I am allowed. I also love water and will splash around every chance I get. I am a little scared of new people and sometimes will bark to tell them that I do not feel safe but it only takes me a minute or two to feel comfortable.

From Maggie's Foster Mom:

Maggie is a stunningly beautiful black and tan puppy. She is 10 months old, and has not had much socialization or training before coming to GSRA. That said, Maggie is very smart and a quick learner. She wants to please her people. Maggie is crate trained, house trained, good in the car and a decent leash walker, she knows how to sit on command. We are now working on wait, back up, leave and stay. She can be reactive to strangers by barking and backing away from them but warms up quickly and loves attention. Maggie is max energy 100% of the time. She is constant motion, running, playing fetch, chasing her foster sisters, jumping in the pond, chasing squirrels, barking at the neighbors dog, going for walks etc. She will need a family who has experience with the needs of a high energy, working line gsd. She MUST have someone committed to training her. She needs a home with a confident male/female large dog to show her how to behave and reduce her social anxiety. Due to her size and energy level she would not do well with small dogs or cats. She has a high prey drive. Maggie will, one day, be a super star in obedience and agility training. Maggie is NOT a first time shepherd type of dog.

IT IS GSRA POLICY THAT WE DO NOT ADOPT DOGS UNDER THE AGE OF 1 YEAR OLD TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN UNDER 8 YEARS OLD.
