GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only

Hello, my name is China and I was surrendered to the shelter by my owner. I am not sure what I did wrong, I am looking forward to finding my forever family. I love other dogs and am not pushy. I leave dogs alone that don't want to play and have fun playing chase and wrestling with those who like to play with me. I like big and small dogs, male and female. I am scared of people but my foster family is helping me learn that not everyone is mean.

Foster Mom:

China is the easiest female GSD that I have had the pleasure of meeting. She has a submissive personality and is not confrontational in any way. She is playful and tolerant of all dogs she has met so far. China is safe to leave in the house while you are away. She does not chew and is house trained. We are working on her human trust issues and will need a forever family that is willing to give her the time, space and patience needed to allow her to come to them in her own time. She is a good car rider and likes to go for a walk, but needs some leash training. China has a cataract in her left eye and has very little sight in that eye. Her right eye is normal and there is no reason to believe that she will have problems with is. Even though China is fearful of people she does not demonstrate any aggression at all, and will still follow you wherever you walk even if she isn't ready for you to pet her. Because of China's fear she will need a home with a playful pup that will show her the new family is safe and can be trusted. A fenced yard is preferable to allow her run and play without the added stress of strangers at a dog park setting.

More about China

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good for Seniors/Elderly, Needs special care, Needs a companion animal

Special Needs: China will need daily eye drops to help with inflammation in her left eye. She does not mind having the drops put in her eye. She will also need a visit with an eye specialist 1-2 times year to monitor her left eye cataract. Due to damage caused by previous inflammation, cataract surgery is not an option to restore the sight in her left eye.
