ROXY ~1-2 years old. Good with older considerate children and large dogs. Not good with small dogs and cats.
GSRA Adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.
Roxy is a lively, intelligent, friendly little sheppie girl. She's the absolute essence of a female sheppie concentrated into a small ~50lb frame. She does well with respectful male dogs, and, like most femme fatale sheppies, "tolerates" other females. She would do just fine in a home with a respectful, well-mannered gentlemanly dog or as an only dog so she can have ALL the attention to herself. Roxy is house broken and crate trained, loves car rides, walks well on leash and has excellent basic obedience, manners and social skills. She has a moderate to high energy level and is very intelligent and has a bit of a work drive as well. Her new pack will need to keep her physically AND mentally stimulated or she could potentially be a bit of a trouble maker. Once her mental and physical needs are met she settles nicely at your feet or in her crate. Roxy also has a bit of a prey drive that, with training and proper management, could be supressed. She is interested in any small animal, birds, squirrels, cats, small dogs etc and will focus on them but not necessarily go after everyone she sees. She watched pigeons less than 10' away and didn't go after them, after a calm, firm "leave it" from me and a "good girl" when she did. As for safety and quality of life for her and her new family we'd prefer a home with no cats or small dogs though. Roxy would also prefer older (5 years old +) respectful children. Roxy has gone out to eat and shopping with her foster mom on several occasions and has done well. She loves ALL people and any attention she can get. One of Roxy's front paws isn't perfect, it's either a congenital defect or old injury we're not sure which. It causes her no pain but she does have a bit of an odd gait and holds it up at times. It may cause her to develop arthritis in that limb earlier due to her altered gate and slightly less of use of that limb. Other than that she's absolutely perfect and will be a wonderful addition to the family lucky enough to be picked by her (and her foster mom). Roxy's ready for a fur-ever family, who's ready for her???
