You’ve heard of diamonds in the rough, right? Well, Gina is not one of them! Oh no, this pretty girl is all polished up and sparkly, ready for her forever home. Gina is, quite simply, about as perfect as a German Shepherd gets. She bonds quickly with her “pack” people but is a social girl who is happy to meet new folks, too. Hello kisses all around, that’s her policy. She’s also good with other dogs, large and small, male and female. However, she is far more interested in interacting with her humans than her canine buddies, so I would describe her companionable with other dogs, rather than playful. When out in the yard, Gina is all about squirrel patrol and border security; as any perfect German Shepherd should be, right??? Yep, busy, busy, to and fro, making sure there haven’t been any squirrel incursions…. Gina has a great nose and loves to track. Based on her looks and behavior we believe she is from a working lineage, but is not a super high-drive dog so does not need to be “on” all the time. Still, Gina is a dog who’d love a job, and I think she would thrive on training. Gina has very nice house manners, as well. She is completely house trained and crate trained, but after a week in her foster home she has proved herself trustworthy, so is no longer crated when home alone with the boys (her two GSD foster brothers). She keeps track of where her people are in the house, but if they aren’t doing anything especially interesting (hey, we can’t all be fascinating all the time!), she is confident enough to go lie down in the other room. She loves going for a walk, walks nicely on-leash, and knows basic commands (sit, stay, wait, down). She’s a sensitive girl interested in pleasing her person, and responds well to praise and gentle verbal correction. Finally, she loves to ride in the car. Pretty much a perfect combination, wouldn’t you agree? I thought so. :-) Well then, get your application in for this gem, she is waiting for you!
