UPDATE: Aug 2013
Savannah has done well since coming to us. She loves to play with my other dogs and does well with my cats. If they run she does get very interested in them but a simple 'No' and she leaves them be. Savannah is crate trained and we leave her in the crate while we are at work. She has had no issues and does well while we are gone. She is crated next to one of my dogs so I think she may need a companion animal to help her with her separation anxiety. Savannah has not chewed on her crate and goes in there with no problem when we leave. She has figured out our routine and puts herself in the crate when it is time. She is a smart girl who figures things out quickly. She knows how to sit and lay down. Savannah is playful and will need time to run in the yard with another dog or person. She loves it when my husband runs around the yard with her! Savannah is a happy go lucky type of gal. She will make you laugh when you least expect it. She would be a great addition to someone's family!

May 2013
Meet Savannah, one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. Savannah came to us from a local humane society where she ended up after being hit by a car, the accident crushed her sinus cavity and broke her upper jawbone. She has healed well from that and is doing great. We believe Savannah is pretty young, maybe 2 years old if that, she has a gentle soul and just loves people. She tends to be a little tentative at first when meeting people and dogs but warms up quickly and will be in your lap within a couple hours. She does like to lounge on the couch with you and will sleep with you in bed if you let her. She does great in the car and has learned that riding can be a lot of fun. She is ok on a leash but could really use more training to be a good walking companion. She gets along with dogs and cats but may be a bit defensive with new dogs at first, more of a “hey please don’t hurt me cause I’m tough too” type defensiveness. She may growl or raise her hackles but as soon as she knows a dog won’t hurt her she’ll want to play and be best friends. She also loves to play with toys and tennis balls

Now Savannah does have a slight hiccup, she has some separation anxiety. She bonds so well to people that she has a hard time when they leave her, even when it’s for a short amount of time. If she can see you outside she may scratch at the window or bark and whine to be with you. She may also chew out of anxiety at times, especially if she isn’t crated. She will crate just fine and once she understands the routine she should go in on her own and not try to get out. She just needs time and a lot of love and patience and I promise she’s worth it! Savannah will need a home with either a companion dog OR someone who is home most of the time (retired, works from home, etc). She would not do well as an only dog if you work all day leaving her home by herself.

Savannah is up to date on her vaccines, heartworm negative, and is being spayed May 8th so she’ll be ready for her new home. She’s crate and house trained, gets along with kids, cats and dogs, and again, she LOVES people.
