Mannie - 4 years old. Good with older considerate children. Dogs TBD. Not good with cats. Hey there!! Miss Mannie coming at you from the fabulous world of GSRA. I am a strikingly beautiful 4 year old female, even if I do say so myself! I know what you are thinking...what kind of a name is Mannie for a girl?? I'm not sure, but that's the name my previous owner's called me for 4 years before they dropped me off at the shelter. I do respond to it very well, but am open to new suggestions if you decide to make me a part of your family.
So let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a big healthy sable girl!! I weigh just under 80 pounds, but there is not an ounce of fat on me. I am just stocky and muscular and big boned!! I am very friendly and fairly energetic. All I want is to be near my people...like really near!! If you are working on the computer or watching TV, I am content to chill out on a dog bed nearby. However, as soon as you get up, I am right with you. I am always looking at you for attention and/or direction. My foster mom says I am eager to please, and that I really need a job to keep my mind occupied!! I prefer to be a lap dog, and will gladly lay across your legs and shower you with kisses. (My foster mom says that I am not supposed to do this- she says some people won't like the overly up-close and personal approach that I favor). I will work on this! I do have good focus and correct easily with firm leadership. I ride well in the car too! I walk pretty well on a leash, except for when I see other dogs...then I get a bit barky. Foster mom is working with me on this. I am a real fun girl once you get to know me!! I am very loving and very loyal!!
From foster mom:
Mannie is a sweet girl who needs a strong leader to give her guidance and security. She is very eager to please, and very smart. Mannie is somewhat lacking in doggie social skills. She can be fine on leash around other dogs who are calm, but can get reactive if dogs get up in her face or try to engage in play. I think this stems from lack of doggie socialization for the earlier part of her life. For this reason, it is recommended that she be an only dog at this time. Mannie is reasonably food motivated, but, surprisingly, she has shown no interest in the tennis ball.
One other point to mention: Mannie was x-rayed by our vet, and it has been determined that she has moderate hip dysplasia in her right hip. The hip socket is not fully formed, and does not wrap around the top of her leg bone all the way as it should. It does not seem to affect her at this time, but it is recommended that she be kept on joint supplements to help prevent the development of arthritis.
Mannie is a wonderful girl who is just looking for someone to love...she has a real strong desire to bond. If you think Mannie might be you girl, hurry and meet her soon. This stunning girl is sure to have a lot of interest.
