Hello world!! My name is Cookie, and I am very fortunate to be a recent addition to GSRA. I am a very sweet girl, but as you can see from my picture, I am not a german shepherd. I am an "Honorary Shepherd"!! I am a petite little blond girl, and only weigh about 40 pounds. I am approx 3-4 yrs old. I am very shy when first meeting new people, but once I know I can trust you, I am very sweet. I am a very well behaved and calm little girl. I do not jump up on people, and have no desire to be on the furniture. I like affection, and love to be petted. I will give you gentle kisses in return. I am very content to just be near you and curl up on a dog bed and observe. I am currently sharing my home with several other shepherds, and have no problem with anyone. I don't currently engage in play with anyone...I am content to live and let live. I recently discovered "squeaky" toys and think they are such a blast...I am comical to watch as I play with them. I am shy, but am working on my confidence. I am so happy when my foster mom gets home from work, and will wag my tail in happy excitement!! I am hoping to find a family that will be patient and allow me continue to develop my confidence and give them unconditional love.

From foster mom:

Cookie is such a sweet and gentle soul. She was out of time at a high kill shelter. Initially, Cookie was clearly overwhelmed by everything, and was extremely timid. Cookie has made tremendous progress over the past few weeks. She has come around and shown that she is receptive and eager for love and attention. She is a very calm and easy going girl. Cookie is crate trained, but has demonstrated that she is non-destructive when left loose in the house. Cookie is a work in progress. She clearly led a very deprived and isolated life prior to rescue, but is showing that she really wants to love and be loved. Cookie is easily startled by sudden movements, and is not fond of thunderstorms. (She doe not get destructive, but is reluctant to go outside during storms.) Cookie walks very well on a leash, and rides well in the car. Cookie is currently undergoing HW treatment, and will be ready for her new family by the end of August. If your family is looking for a sweet and low maintenance new family member, please come and meet Cookie.
