Lou was rescued from an individual in February. His family of 3 little girls abandoned him because they could not move him with them. He was not neutered and was due for his shots, and had severe separation anxiety. I rescued him, he has now been neutered and is up to date on all shots, has been microchipped, has been heartworm tested negative, on heartworm preventative, and is an all-around sweetie. He is house/crate trained (in a very secure crate - he is an incredible houdini; and absolutely nothing in there with him). He sleeps on his bed beside mine through the entire night. He just wants to be with you at all time.
Lou needs constant attention!!! He also requires plenty of exercise and activity. Please do not contact me unless this can be given. He will do well with another dog in the house, and this is preferred. He is so smart and needs to have a 'job'. The former owners said he didn't even like to play fetch - guess what?? He loves it!! He knows how to sit, wait for his food, knows his name, knows 'no', and 'down'...he's good with hand signals and is still working on waiting patiently to be allowed out the door...He is a very active and excited boy. We are still working on him not jumping up on people when he gets excited. Because he was abandoned, he needs to feel secure; he doesn't know when he'll be left next; this is why another dog would help. He absolutely loves my female standard poodle and she rules him. He is quite submissive and even cowers a bit if he does something wrong, leading me to believe that he may not ha ve been in the most peaceful prior situation. He is great with children. He does well on walks, but some reminders are needed to have him walk calmly. He has a high prey drive, he loves to chase squirrels, bees, and butterflies. We do have a cat, and while he has learned that if he stays still, she will allow him to sniff her, if she runs, he is right after her - constant supervision is required. I have yet to give him a bath, he has been to the groomers, and it is reported that he does not like it one bit! He doesn't get mad, he just whines.
If you have ALOT of patience, alot of time, a good heart, and are understanding - Lou is the dog for you. I wish I could be with him all the time, because that is what he needs....He now does okay in his crate when I go to work, but only if my dog is in the room with him (which she is all the time); however, this was quite an acheivement...
I took Lou to the vet when I took him in, she noted that he is very sweet and non-aggressive according to her physical exam; along with other info that will be suppolied...he had a 'cold' and was treated with antibiotics. All vet records and registration papers can be supplied. He was born 12/30/10 and weighs about 70 lbs.
There is an adoption fee to cover his vet bills and other bills incurred.
