~7 years old. Good with kids, dogs and cats.

Introducing Darwin! As his name suggests, Darwin is a highly evolved creature! He is smart, sensitive, loving, expressive and sweet. He is extremely people centered. He gives wonderful hugs, looks expressively into your eyes trying to connect and often talks to us with small vocalizations and whines.

He is a large boy with a gentle nature. He is well trained and quick to bond. He knows sit, come, heel and wait. He is very responsive on and off leash. He is crate trained.

Darwin is an owner surrender and was used for breeding but lived as a family pet. He has just recently been neutered.

He LOVES being outside with his person. If left outside alone, he will dig or plot a way to get out of yard and back with his human. He was left in his crate for most of the day and night with his former owners which caused his back legs to atrophy but they are gaining strength with regular exercise and he is just fine.

Darwin is the type of dog that could go to the cafe with you, on long walks, hang out in the yard while you garden and lay in the sunshine. He LOVES the outdoors but only if his person is with him.

True to his breed, he is inquisitive, loyal, and protective. That being said, he is not aggressive or inappropriate in any way with new people. He does not play fetch or play much with our other GSD, though ours tries to entice Darwin to play daily. Darwin is just not interested in play. He engages in a little mild wrestling once in a while but that is all. He is a natural leader but is very respectful with our other GSD about it. There have been no scuffles or fights and they get along beautifully. He is easily handled on walks by my 10 year old daughter.
