Date Posted: 2/3/2012 This affectionate and smart puppy was dumped off in a rural area and found his way to my fenced yard where he now plays with my 5 rescued dogs, all different sizes. He went in and out the pet door within hours of arriving here! He was a street dog for quite awhile but showed no interest in my neighbor's 9 cats. Chico (which means little man) is 8 months old, current on shots and will be neutered in February. He currently weighs 35lb so he will not be a large dog. Rarely have I taken in a dog so eager to please. He already sits on command and is better every day about walking on a leash; obedience lessons need to continue! Chico is mesmerized riding in the truck ... I can just hear him thinking, wow what a big, wide world. So far no accidents inside although I have made no effort to housebreak him; he is old enough and expressive enough that he tells me when he needs out. He does need room to run and play, and another dog to play with wo uld be ideal. At a recent vet visit I was telling other "parents" of my challenge in finding him a name. As his big ears popped up, the woman sitting next to me said call him Mr. Personality! That says it all. Only apply to adopt him if you want and will diligently care for a forever friend who will probably think you are a far better person than your significant other does!! If you are interested in Chico, in this courtesy listing you do need to submit an adoption application through the German Shepherd Rescue and Adoption website. Fill out an application As part of the application process, a home visit is required as are vet references after you are considered to be a possible new home. There also will be a minimum of a 2 day waiting period after the home visit for both of us to carefully consider if you are the best new family for Chico.
