(9 yrs old) Good with dogs, large and small, cats and kids. Good for seniors, needs a companion animal

Thor is the ultimate Dude – a sweet, lumbering giant who thrives on love and food in equally large quantities. He’s come a long way since he arrived at GSRA. It’s hard to believe he had to be coaxed to eat! Poor guy suffered from heartworms, whipworms – and a severe case of abandonment issues. Now he loves being part of the pack – human, canine, feline – it’s all good with Thor. Right now his posse consists of a female shepherd, a Shih Tzu and two cats, so he can probably adapt to yours. He doesn’t like to be left alone, so a home with other pets is advisable. When he’s happy, Thor is good as gold. When he’s not, there isn’t a gate, latch, or doorknob he can’t figure out. That goofy look of his is pure ruse – Thor is one smart dog.

Thor is reported to be 9 years old. He certainly has the dignity of an elder statesman, but hasn’t let age cramp his style - and woe to the squirrel who judges Thor too old to give chase! He can still run up and down the stairs and jump into a truck, but his permanent home should probably be prepared to accommodate the inevitable creaks of later years.

If you’ve been missing the solid weight of a shepherd noggin in your lap, and appreciate the benefits of not having to bend over to squeeze that head, then Thor is your dude!
