(10 1/2 yrs) Good with dogs, cats and older considerate children. Good for seniors. Breed experience is preferable.

SB/TFGSD (single, black/tan, female, German Shepherd dog) seeks companionship of older southern gentlemen for short easy walks in the evening and relaxing on the couch during the day.

I'm not much for mornings; it takes me a little bit too warm the ol’ bones up and start moving. I’m not a needy gal, I will keep you company (I have a nice big bed by foster momma’s couch which is where I’ll be most the time) and alert you if an intruder comes to the door. I even bark at Momma but once I know its momma I will turn in circles and try to get my tail. Then we go outside and I turn into a puppy. It’s great to be a dog again and so good to be a family member. I'm a very low maintenance kinda gal. Just give me an ear rub every now and again (I will let you know when the ear rub is done, don’t stop before then). My perfect furever home would be with a southern canine gentleman who will treat me as the queen I deserve to be.

From Georgia’s Foster Mom
Georgia is a very sweet timid gal who loves a good ear rub. Walks great on leash, just doesn’t like to walk a lot which is ok, an easy stroll is all she needs. Taking her out is a pleasure, she is so well behaved and beautiful that everyone stops to remark about her.

Georgia does great around dogs and cats, but would prefer to have just one other dog in the house. She loves being with her people.

She is crated trained but does not like it and doesn’t need it. She stays out with the resident old dogs of the house and all is fine while we are gone, in fact she is the first to alert that I’m home. She will bark at whoever comes through the door until she realizes it is me or dada, and then she is ok. She does this crazy grunt/moan thing that at first can be a little scary for other dogs. Once they know she means no harm all is fine.

She is very loyal and protective, it took up to 3 months to warm up to us but once she had our trust she is awesome. Must have patience with this gal.

Georgia is one of the Fab Five that we’ve been writing about in our Voice of the GSRA Pack leader blog for the past several months. Along with the rest of her kennelmates, she came to us from a very difficult neglect situation. They had been neglected to the point of having serious health consequences. Their journey back to physical and emotional health has been underway since the spring (please see our blog, http://gsrapackleader.blogspot.com/, for details on this remarkable rescue story), and we’re pleased to introduce Georgia as the first of the Fab Five Females to be available for adoption.
The minimal exercise she’s been allowed in recent years has caused significant muscle wasting, especially on her back end. Regular walks, a good diet, and joint supplements are doing wonders to build her back up, and we are looking for an adoptive family that will be committed to continuing that effort.
