German Shepherd Dog : : Female (spayed)
(2 1/2 yrs old) Good with dogs, cats and kids. Is apartment appropriate and would be a good dog for a Senior Tara is a stunning red and black German Shepherd. She was found living under an abandoned house with her puppies. Her puppies were adopted out, but Tara was left behind in the shelter, scheduled to be destroyed until a GSRA volunteer came to get this wonderfully, sweet girl. It’s hard to imagine that her story almost ended there. She is a young, calm, agreeable dog who would fit into almost any family situation. She has recently been spayed and is awaiting heartworm treatment. I would love to claim her wonderful manners and disposition on my fostering expertise (haha). But the truth is, Tara arrived at our house fully house broken, obedience trained, and sweet right from day one! Oh, and I should also mention she is very well behaved on a leash. Initially she showed some food/toy aggression. But she has quickly stopped now that she realizes food, toys and love are in abundance. She gets along with her foster brother very well and they wrestle and play very nicely. She is an amazingly calm pooch and prefers to be in the company of her humans at all times. Tara has not taken to the kennel, and is quit the escape artist. It’s really no problem though, because she is not destructive and does not have accidents. So we just leave her out now. She is protective and has a hearty bark at passer-bys. She has a calm demeanor around children, and did not appear to have interest in cats at her temporary foster home. Overall, Tara is a well rounded, beautiful, smart GSD. She has some health hurdles to overcome from living on her own, but shows no emotional distress from her abandonment. Someone will be very lucky to have her as part of their family.
