Let me introduce you to Maia, (pronounced My-a). She is a stunning black and tan girl with a superb personality. Maia is actually 1/2 German shepherd and 1/2 Doberman. She looks primarily like a GSD, but has a slightly shorter coat, and the markings of a Doberman---including the very cute brown spots for eyebrows!! Maia is healthy 5 year old girl, with the energy of a 1 year old! Maia is highly intelligent, and very well trained. She knows sit and down...and is very responsive to the commands. In fact, she will go from sit to down and back to sit on command. She is very focused. She knows another command..."settle" where she will lie down and roll over on her side. Her previous owner cared about her very much, and obviously spent a good deal of time training her. Maia walks pretty well on a leash, although she will pull on occasion.
Maia LOVES to play ball!! Let me rephrase... Maia LIVES for the ball!! Nothing makes her happier than for you to throw the ball for her. She is great at retrieving, and will bring it back every time and drop it at your feet. She will wait and fidget in eager anticipation of you picking it up again. She will not attempt to grab it. Maia can play ball for as long as your arm can throw it. She has great attention, and will happily go through her commands for you while waiting for the ball toss. Maia can be a bit possessive about the ball around other dogs. Maia also loves the water, so if you like the beach or lake you will have a very willing participant with Maia. Throw the ball in the water and she is in heaven! Maia is totally housebroken, crate trained, and loves to go for car rides. Maia seems pretty ok with cats. She met a dog savvy cat, and just wagged her tail and sniffed him. He walked away and she lost interest in him...went off looking for her ball. She may chase a cat if it runs, but does not seem to demonstrate any aggressive tendencies towards them. Maia also seems ok with other dogs, both big and small. However, she will get confrontational if a dog attempts to dominate her. Also, she tends to be possessive of her ball around other dogs. Maia needs a fenced yard so she can have room to run and play ball. She really loved to run, so if there is a jogger in the family, she would make a great running partner. Maia needs a family that is committed to giving her a lot of exercise, as she is a very active girl. If you are looking for a couch potato, Maia is not the one for you. She is very people friendly, and is very confident. She is a very well rounded girl and will make you laugh with her smiling expressions. She is a fun and well trained girl who will be a great addition to some lucky family. More about MaiaGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids Current Scheduled Events:
