Nancy Prather dogshavesouls.namaste@ gmail.com Raleigh, NC Date Posted: 26May2010 On the Saturday morning before Easter Tara was found at a very busy intersection as she was trying to get into different cars as they stopped at the stop sign. She had clearly JUST given birth and was tired, confused and still bleeding from the delivery. As I pulled up to the intersection and opened my side door, she ran to the van and jumped in. The neighborhood children and I spent the day looking for newborn puppies instead of Easter eggs. Sadly Tara was unable to lead us to them and we were unable to find them without her help. Tara had developed a dangerous infection in her breasts and we were afraid she might lose a few. Thankfully she has recovered both physically and emotionally and is now a beautiful, strong and spirited young dog, with a marvelous sense of humor. Tara, a blonde sable, is small, about sixty pounds. She is young i'm sure she will put on muscle and weight as she continues to become a grown up dog. Tara has all the smarts and energy one would expect from a young German shepherd. She has a strong prey drive and will chase, so if she lives with cats (she does here) the cats should be “dog wise.” Tara is appropriate with other dogs (she fit right in with my pack). She is crate trained, house trained and very well behaved in the house. She understands basic commands, sit, down, stop chasing the cat, leave it alone, no we’re NOT going to play right now, oh did I mention, stop chasing the cat? Tara is very cuddly and loves to be kissed and hugged, but do not mistake her for any kind of a sissy girl! She is tough as nails and is ready to rock and roll at a moments notice. Her favorite toys are a giant plastic egg and a jolly ball. Want to play tug? She’s your girl! Tara can be very protective and requires a human who is knowledgeable and experienced with this breed. She responds very well to positive reenforcement and does not respond to negative reenforcement at all. Tara is the kind of canine who, once she is yours and you have proved you are worthy, will be faithful and true to the last beat of her heart and will lay down her life for her master without question. http://picasaweb.google.com/dogshavesouls.namaste/Tara?feat=directlink More about TaraGood with Dogs
