(4 months) "I'm special.....soooo special....I gotta have some of your attention....give it to me....." ok, imagine me singing in Chrissie Hynde's sultry voice with a little back up from the Pretenders. I am a great little shepherd female girl with a tale to tell! You see, what makes me so special is that I was born missing one little back foot. My owner decided that I was best put to sleep so brought me in to the vet's. But an Angel saw me and saw how special I was and interceded on my behalf! She took me home, bottle fed me, kept watch over me, weaned me, nurtured me and loved me for exactly who I am! I am doing great with my Angel Family. I've learned to compensate for my missing foot - hence my name - Hop A Long Cassidy - Cassidy for short, please! I went to the vet's this week and he says that I continue to do well. And I am sooooo incredibly cute - everybody says so - it must be true! I was born in early January - boy time flies when you're having as much fun as me. The nice people at GSRA are "equal opportunity" when it comes to good dogs and they say I am one of the best! So here I am, waiting on my special forever home
Update: 5/22/2010
Look out world! Here I come! And boy am I special - everybody says so - it must be true! One thing that makes me special is that I am missing most of my right hind foot. I was born without it. My original "owner" brought me into the vet's to be euthanized right after I was born because he thought I wasn't perfect but an angel saw me and rescued me! She bottle fed me and took care of me and raised me - she loved me for just who I am - and I truly AM perfect! I really don't know that I'm missing part of my foot and think everything is just fine the way it is. It doesn't slow me down one bit! In fact, my foster mommy had to put up at babygate at the bottom of the second story stairs to keep me from running up and down them. I really just wanted to show her that I could. And I'll push off of my little nub for running out in the backyard with my foster siblings. I am very vocal - my mommy says I make the cutest woo woo noises - if I want anything: to go out, to play, if I'm hungry or just want a little extra attention. I'll let you know if I want something for sure! I like to follow my foster mommy and daddy around and keep close watch on where they are. I'm learning what it's like to play with other dogs. The senior dogs in the house are teaching me good dog manners like to not mess with them when they are chewing on a nylabone. I sure do like to play with the other puppy in the house and we play lots of silly mouthy games and chase each other around. Sometimes we get a little too rowdy and then my mommy makes us go out in the yard. I can be a little sassy sometimes too. Mommy corrected me the other day for trying to chew on a slipper (well, it's a puppy thing you know) and I made my woo noise at her in protest. Oh and about that chewing thing - I just lost my first puppy tooth. Mommy says I can't get rid of my piranha puppy teeth fast enough as she's been through a lot of bandaids recently. Mommy corrects me when I do those puppy nips so I'm learning. You just have to be patient with me 'cause I'm still a baby but I'm learning fast. Already got that housebreaking thing down! I'll stand at the door or "woo" at you to let you know I've got to go! And I do love my crate. In fact, I consider it a great place to "time out" and will run right in and plop down if I need a break from all the running around and playing that I do. I am just a typical energetic GSD puppy. Hey did you notice my BIG ears? Mommy says I should be able to pick up all the tv channels with them. I was born in early January and I'm growing like a weed - time flies when you're having as much fun as me! I would love to have another young dog to play with in my forever home. So here I am - chillin' and hangin' out and waitin' on my forever home….mommy says I'm soooo adorable that it won't take long! Puppy love, Cassidy :)
