1 month update:
Evan has been in his foster home for a month, and I can update that he is good with male dogs. The warm up came a bit slower than with my female, but I can say he is good with both sexes. This was the result of a slow introduction, though, so do not be misled and think it can happen rapidly. I took my time and was cautious because you don't get do-overs and I'm not looking to for harsh feelings to develop with my boys. Whether you have a male or female, a slow careful introduction is the way to go. I continue to keep a very close eye on them, and being free together outside is a longer term goal I can work toward. For now, being in the same room, uncrated & unleashed and being able to walk by each other in the hall is satisfactory for me.

Evan might be good with cats, too. The vet office we visit has a clinic cat, and Evan showed interest, but no desire to chase or harm the cat. So, I feel he could go to a home with a dog savvy cat; again, a slow introduction would be wise.

Evan has a medium energy level that is easily satisfied with some backyard ball throwing, and daily walks. He adores walks! I do want a home for him that is willing to take him on walks; hikes aren't necessary, but a leisurely neighborhood walk will make his day.

He isn't crazy about having his front paws touched, so I know this will make nail trimming a challenge. I'll work to desensitize this behavior by gently touching and holding his paws as we are sitting around the house. You'll need to continue this, too, so he can develop his trust & eventually tolerate nail trims in the comfort of home.

Evan is great with a bath and doesn't mind the soap up, the towel dry, or the blow dry. He's also unfazed by thunderstorms or vacuum cleaners.

Original bio:
Evan is estimated to be about 18 months old. He's relatively calm for his age; he is excited to get out of his crate & will bounce about for a few minutes afterward, but settles down quickly. In the yard, he likes to run for a second, then take care of business, and find a toy or stick to entertain himself with. He enjoys retrieving a ball.

We are working on commands; he is practicing sit & come, next we will work on down, stay, and leash walking. You'll need to continue these exercises to build your bond with him and cement his knowledge.

We are still working on introductions to my male & female dogs. Everyone is able to safely observe from the safety of a kennel or behind a gate, there are no grumbling or aggressive behaviors noted. Introductions are taken slowly in this household for everyone's safety & sanity. There isn't a second chance to make a first impression, so we want to set everyone up for a positive interaction. I strongly advise making a plan to introduce Evan to the other dogs of your household. He appears to have more tolerance for my female versus my male at this stage. He will bark at the male, but my male is more vocal than my female; and his barking is corrected quickly with a verbal, No.

Evan is also an easy rider in the car. He will look out the window for a few minutes, then settle down for a nap.

Evan is a great yard partner who likes to be outside with you while you are gardening or watering. He will bring a ball for you to throw, then happily settle on the grass for some relaxation.

Evan cannot be trusted unsupervised in the house right now, he's into chewing furniture corners at the moment, so a crate when he cannot be watched. You will need at least a 48" kennel for his comfort. He has no problems going into the crate & being confined, but he's out of it when I am home to supervise his activities. His house training is reliable, too.

You'll notice that right ear has a little flop to it, it's broken cartilage and it's not going to rise; so, there is extra charm occurring with my sweet boy.
