BUDDY ~1 year old. TBD if good with kids, dogs and cats.
GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.
Hello world! My name is Buddy and I am a super cute young fellow looking for my forever home. I am a handsome young black and tan boy. I’m about a year to a year and 1/2 old. I have pretty dark colored, so I’m technically a bi-color. I am filling out a bit but I am not going to be a super large dog. I am currently about 55 pounds.
I was initially brought to the shelter after it was discovered that I was left, tied up outside. I had not been well socialized, and was totally terrified and shut down at the shelter. I am learning how to trust people and how to be a dog. Everything has been so new to me. I am looking for a home with someone who will be patient with me and let me continue to grow. I am a little, overwhelmed and apprehensive with new situations. I am shy when meeting, new people, but once I bond with you I’m trying very hard to engage. I will happily run around with the zoomies when my foster mom plays with me in the yard. When I do this, I have a great smile on my face, and I’m wagging my tail as I am not stressed, because playing in the yard is a lot of fun I am learning to appreciate being petted although I must say it’s still makes me a little bit nervous, but I am really getting better and improving at it. I’ve discovered that butt scratches are a lot of fun.
I am crate trained, and will sleep quietly through the night. I take care of business once I’m let outside. I have not yet discovered toys per foster Mom. She says she’s hoping that I will figure it out at some point.
I do get along with some dogs, but I am also a bit selective. It is suspected that I was not exposed to many dogs in my earlier life so I get a little apprehensive around them. I play well with middle-age or calm natured dogs, but hyper dogs make me a little edgy. Just too much energy and I get overwhelmed.
Foster mom says I’m going to need someone with a fenced yard so that I can hopefully learn to play but still have a safe place to run and get some of my energy out. A confident, middle aged female dog to show me the ropes would probably help a lot.
I am still a bit, fearful, and especially jumpy around sudden movements and sudden changes of scenery. For this reason foster mom feels that it’s best that I do not go to a home with young children. Kids over 16 would be fine but nothing younger. I’m really looking for a person who is willing to spend time with me, taking walks and working with me and teach me how to be all the dogs that I am capable of. I have made great strides with my foster mom, but I’m ready to level up and find my forever home and start bonding with my new people and embarking upon my new adventures and journey with them.
If you think I might be the silly, happy, boy that will complete your life then please come and meet me soon.
Sincerely yours,
Buddy.
