Savannah’s story could have been written by Dickens – a would be tragic tale that shows the power of the German shepherd character. Despite inauspicious beginnings, this six-year-old dark beauty is one of the most loving pups you’ll ever meet. We see it so often. In her early years, Savannah’s owners used her for breeding. Eventually, one of Savannah’s grown pups attacked her. The pup stayed in the house and Savannah was forced outside. As time passed, the owners grew tired of caring for Savannah, and she was dumped at a rural high kill shelter. Her fate was sealed; her chances at adoption were none. Fortunately for Savannah, her winning disposition caught the attention and affection of the shelter staff, and she stayed at the shelter way beyond her allotted time. Eventually, however, her time was up. Trying desperately to save Savannah’s life, a shelter staff member sent Blue Moon a video of this sweet dog. Once we saw her, the die was cast. We could not let her die. Despite everything she has been through, Savannah hasn’t met a person or a dog she doesn’t love. She’s always up for sloppy kisses and belly rubs and knows just how to make your bad days better! She’ll stick by your side on walks, exploring new places, of just hanging around the house. In true shepherd fashion, she’ll follow you everywhere. Savannah is currently heartworm positive. She’ll undergo treatment before you bring her home.
