LUNA ~2 years old. Good with dogs. TBD if good with kids and cats.
GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.
Hi! I'm Luna, and I'm adorable! I was a teen mother (in a breeding program), so my early years haven't been easy. When I lost a litter because of medical complications, my owner thought my useful life was over. They could not have been more wrong! I'm not cranking out puppies anymore; I'm cranking out love! I've missed that! I'm only two years old and in many ways I'm still a puppy! I'm making up for missed childhood. I like to mouth and I love to play! My friends call me 'frisky'!
But motherhood has matured me. I am housebroken and have perfect house manners. I don't get on furniture, I don't counter-surf, and I don't tear stuff up. Why would I? All I want is to be loved! I can Sit and Wait and Heel (on a prong collar). When I hear "NO!" its is an unbreakable rule. Yikes!
I can be shy and cautious on first acquaintance, but I am very affectionate with people of all ages. I do like to mouth and sometimes nip in play, so until I've learned that people aren't some kind of weird dogs, I should be supervised around small children. I'm completely unreactive to other dogs (even if they are creeps), but cat's may find me a bit much! I don't know?
I'm eager to learn, but I am still learning. It would be great if I could find a home with another dog who could mentor me and help me learn the ropes. And play with me! I'm very active, so I'll need some space in a fenced yard and plenty of walks/runs for exercise. I'll need a family who can keep up with me!
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed and then it is wonderful to have a quiet crate where I can go to regroup. If it is open, I go there on my own when I need to be quiet, and come back out when I'm feeling calmer. If you tell me "NO", you will know where to look for me! I hate disapproval and long to be a pleaser. I'm really smart, so if people tell me what they want from me, I'm more than happy to do it for them at 120%!
Please take a moment to get to know me. My life as a mother is over, but my life as a loving family companion is all in front of me. I have so much to learn and so much to share-- I can't wait to meet my forever family.
From foster: Luna is desperately seeking love and stability. She is really smart and a 'pleaser' so she is super trainable for almost any task. She is protective without being aggressive--you won't have visitors without her letting you know! She is easily triggered and shows it by retreating to her crate. She is somewhat more comfortable with women than with men, but warms to both with exposure. With love and stability she is destined to be a fantastic, talented, loving companion.
