German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young
ROXY ~1.5 years old. TBD if good with kids and dogs. Not good with cats. Let me introduce you to Roxy! Roxy is a beautiful black and tan shepherd, between one and a half and two years old. She is a big girl, she is not fat, she is all muscle, and she is close to 82 pounds. Roxy is a very high energy girl. All she wants to do is play ball. A lot, like all the time! Roxy has one of the strongest ball drives of any shepherd I have ever encountered. When she is outside if you do not give her a ball, she goes looking for one until she finds one! Roxy has mastered the art of fetch with the two-tennis ball rotation! A “Chuck - It” wand is highly recommended for this activity, (unless you are a professional pitcher and used to throwing a ball repeatedly). Roxy will eagerly retrieve the first fall and come charging back and spit it out as you prepare to throw the second one. She can play this game for a long time! For this reason, a fenced yard of a decent size would be best for Roxy. Roxy is a bit timid meeting new people, but once she gets to know you and accept you as her person she is totally devoted! She is a great dog in the house. She is nondestructive and housebroken. She is quiet in her crate but can also be trusted loose. Roxy gets a little nervous when going to unfamiliar places, new stimulus is a bit stressful for her, so she needs an owner who is going to be willing to take her places and work on the sensitizing her. Roxy has made improvements in this and if you bring one of her tennis balls along to keep her focus, she does much better. Roxy is a very affectionate dog who is eager to please her people. She loves being petted and will roll over for belly rubs once you are part of her circle. Roxy has a great enthusiasm for life. When she gets excited she’s like a bull in a china shop, she does not recognize her size. For this reason, it is recommended that she go to a home with no children or children who are at least over 12 years old as she might knock some smaller ones over unintentionally! Roxy is a very intense dog. She is not for the faint of heart! She is beautiful, but she has a lot of working line characteristics and behavior. She is not your couch potato German Shepherd. She is not a dog for a first time Shepherd owner. She needs to go to someone with a lot of experience with working line/high drive dogs. We want to set her and her new owner up for success, and experience with dogs like this in the past is a must. Roxy is a big dog selective. She likes some but not others. She would be fine as an only dog, or possibly with a calmer submissive male. This fun girl is a riot. If you were looking for a beautiful, energetic, and devoted dog who is wanting to share every aspect of your life, come and meet her soon! She is going to be a great addition to some lucky family!
