Hi, everybody! My full name is Dakota, but friends just call me ‘Kota! Bought as a puppy, I was a loved dog, but my family couldn’t keep me any longer, and I found myself living outdoors in a pen. Even though I adapted to my surroundings without complaint, I really like being in a house just hanging out with humans and critters. One of my sweetest traits is that I am gentle and loving toward my first family’s toddler and infant; in fact, I’m good with all the people I’ve met so far! I like to lie at someone’s feet and be patted, but I don’t pester. My foster mom says I’m very responsive and trainable—all I can say is that so much is new to me, and I’m eager to take it all in. I already know some basic commands! When I heal from my neutering, I’m sure I’ll want to take long walks and play with my foster siblings. I have been checking out the backyard here off-lead, and I have to say I really love roaming around, chasing water that comes from a hose, and marking. Oh yeah—I guess I should mention that my house-training needs some work. That’s one reason why I have to spend a little more time in my crate right now than my foster mom (or I) would like. So far, I get along with my GSD sister and the little Pugs and Beagle who rule this home; I just need to feel a little more secure around my Border Collie sibling for some reason. And cats? Well, I don’t seem to care what they do—unless that tuxedoed male comes too close to my crate! Then I let out a bark!
