LUCA ~6 years old. Good with dogs and kids. Cats TBD.

Say hello to the beautiful Luca! Luca is a lovely middle-aged lady who knows that good manners will get you far in life, so she brings hers along wherever she goes. Pottying only outside? Check! Accepting treats politely? Check? Walking nicely on-leash, meeting the neighbors (including children), riding in the car? Check, check, and check! Yes, Miss Luca is pretty much perfect. The only thing she DOESN’T use good manners about is staying in her crate when I leave the house! Yeah, she has opinions about this, as well as some escape-artist skills… She says she’s a good girl and won’t get into trouble or do anything wrong, and how can she keep your house safe if she isn’t free to keep an eye on the doors and windows? Good arguments all, so we agreed that could be left to her own devices when home alone, and she has not disappointed.

Aside from this opinion on crating (which is surprising, because she’s absolutely comfortable in the crate when I’m home), Luca really IS perfect. All she needs is a person or people who are home most of the time to accept (and return) her quiet companionship, take her on a few walks or other outings a day, and just spend a bit of time with her outside each day so she can watch the world go by—because she LOVES to watch the world go by, but she also wants to be with you, so in her perfect home she can do both things at once.

Luca is good with other dogs but is really more of a people-dog than a dog-dog so would do well as a single or in a multi-dog home. But she won’t be a play buddy for those other dogs—rather, she’ll enjoy their company if they’re around, but they’re no substitute for a person.

Luca is heartworm positive so needs to be treated before she can move to her new forever home, which would be sometime in late Fall—but she would love to make your acquaintance now and decide where her forever home was going to be. So, if you can offer the type of home that would suit Miss Luca and have room in your life for a perfect (seriously!) dog, please come out and meet her. She’ll be waiting.
