ATHENA ~ 4.5 years old. Good with dogs. Kids and cats TBD.

GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only.

Meet Athena! Picked up as a stray, Athena had recently given birth to a litter of puppies before finding herself on the streets of Winston-Salem. She was spayed and had an umbilical hernia repair while at the shelter. Athena is also currently being treated for kennel cough.

She shows signs of being a typical velcro sheppie and prefers to be near her person as much as possible. Athena has some slight separation anxiety and would do best in a forever home where someone is home with her most of the day. She will go in her crate with some coaxing at night but currently gets anxious if she is left alone in her crate with no one at the home and will try to emancipate herself to go in search of you.

Athena has had no formal training, so basic obedience and command work will be needed. She walks very well on leash. She has shown herding tendencies with smaller animals in the home and squirrels bring out her prey drive while on walks. Athena is good with both male and female dogs that are her size or bigger. Apartment friendly. Small dogs TBD, Cats TBD, Kids TBD.

Athena needs to fully recover from her surgeries and receive some additional vetting before being ready for adoption. Check back soon as we learn more about this beautiful warrior princess!
