Fiona is a young adorable German Shepherd Mix. She is about a year old. She is a medium-size girl coming in at about 45 to 50 pounds. She is extremely athletic and loves her people. She can be a little shy when she first meets new people but warms up quickly. There may be a bit of Boxer in her "mix” -- she has a lot of the "bouncy" moves that Boxers usually demonstrate. Fiona was picked up as a stray, so we do not know anything about her past. She was super timid when first pulled from the shelter but has really come out of her shell with a little bit of love and structure.
Fiona would love an active household. She is going to require a fenced yard because she’s got a good bit of energy and likes to just run around for fun. She absolutely LOVES the tennis ball. If you play ball with her, she would be the happiest dog in the world. She’s also quite capable of entertaining herself with a tennis ball if you just give her one to play with. She will throw it up in the air and catch it and bounce it around and just race around with it.
Fiona likes other dogs, but she can be a bit overbearing. If she’s going to have a doggy companion, I would recommend a male dog who can handle her enthusiasm.
Fiona is a very loyal and devoted dog. She loves to curl up on the couch with her people. She will also bark to alert you of anything that sounds out of place! She’s just a great all-around dog. She has met several children at our events and seems to do fine with them. She does have considerable prey drive, so no kitty cats or small animals in her future home. She loves stuffed toys too! Crate trained and quiet at night. She also rides pretty well in the car.
Fiona is a smart little girl and is very food motivated. She does not know many commands right now, but she is eager to learn. It would be a great bonding experience for her new family to work with her on expanding her skill set in various commands.
