Greetings! My name is Maya, and I am a stunning solid black German shepherd that is approximately 3 to 4 years old. not much is known about my past, but I am not too worried about that, I am just worried about finding a new forever home with a family that will love me and appreciate me for what I have to offer
I have a beautiful glossy coat. I’m a very intense girl. I’m a bit timid with meeting new people, but once I trust you I am like a Velcro dog. I was found as a stray, but the family that found me could not keep me and reached out for help. I am good with children, and I am housebroken and crate trained. It is speculated that I was a stray for a while before I was found. I was rather thin, and I have an extremely high food drive. This has caused a little bit of concern because I am a very proficient counter surfer. I am always looking for food, even though I have had plenty of good meals and I’m at a very good weight. I need a home where someone is going to be very diligent with teaching me what is appropriate and what is not. I do respond well to correction, but if something is within reach I am a great opportunist! My foster mom has been a good sport about the few times that I have snatched things off the counter, and has learned to make sure to keep things out of my reach!
I have a few other doggy friends at my current foster home. I do better with medium energy or calm dogs as opposed to super hyper dogs. I’m a bit intimidated by other dogs but do get along with them. I could be fine as an only dog or with a moderate energy dog that is not overly dominant.
I am not a super high energy dog, I do have a little bit of prey drive towards squirrels and other critters. I pretty much would like to be a companion dog for someone who is home a lot and can give me some attention and let me be their best buddy. I’m a very sweet girl. I look forward to meeting you and perhaps I could be the companion you were looking for.
I do have a little gray around my muzzle, but my teeth are very clean, so the vet estimates me at about four years old. Perhaps it’s just a little bit of premature gray because I’ve had a little bit of a stressful life prior to coming to rescue. I have just completed her treatment and I’m ready to pack my bags and start the bonding process with my new family. Please complete me soon.
Love, Maya
