Hello world! My name is CJ. I am a sweet but very timid and shy girl that is looking for my forever home. I am a very pretty girl, and am about 1-2 years old. I have a slender build. I weigh about 60 pounds, and won't get much bigger.
Not much is known about my past. I ended up in a small rural shelter. I was so scared that I would not even let anyone near me. The volunteers worked on gaining my trust, and I was able to get into the rescue. I am going to need a special home. I am extremely fearful of new people and new things. Once I learn to trust you, I am totally devoted, and act like a typical happy dog. i know, I know, it sounds like a tale of two extremes...and it basically is.
I am very bonded to my foster mom. She saved me from the scary shelter, feeds me every day, and has earned my trust. I act like a very enthusiastic and silly dog when she is around. I will run around the yard wagging my tail and jumping around. I also try to jump on my foster mom for attention. Occasionally I get to sleep in the bed and I think this is a great treat. I need some manners and need to learn to curb my enthusiasm. I do need some work on leash walking. We have not done that yet because I have been going through heartworm treatment, and had to stay quiet and stress free.
When I am not with my foster mom, I am a lot more reserved around other people. I get easily frightened by new and unfamiliar things/environments. I am terrified of the vets office.... I will need a patient owner who is willing to spend time with me to continue to expose me to new things and help desensitize me. I have a lot of potential.
I do like other dogs. I do better with middle aged dogs...ones who will play with me and yet not be too wild and crazy. I am learning a LOT from my furry foster friend Jazz. She is an old timer, and she is my best buddy. I look to her for guidance. I am much more confident dog when she is around. Foster mom says I need to have an medium to large doggie companion in my next home to help me continue to gain confidence and learn appropriate behaviors. I will also require a nice yard with privacy fence. I am not a candidate for leash walking...I need a yard to run around and let out my energy.
I am crate trained and thrive on structure. I really am a diamond in the rough. I am looking forward to finding a new family that sees my potential and will help me become an even better dog. I promise you years of adventures and love.
Come and meet me soon! I look forward to meeting you!
