Hold onto your heart strings folks, because this gorgeous package of fluffiness is looking to grab them!! Meet Shiloh, a large and lovely long-haired sheppie. As if “regular” sheppies didn’t have enough hair, right??? I know... But once you meet Shiloh I think you’ll agree that he has just the right amount. :-) He is funny, sweet, very earnest, has excellent house manners, and is completely contrite when he realizes he’s done something wrong. In other words, total perfection! He is very friendly to people and other dogs but has an intense prey drive that makes him a no-go with cats. But if you don’t have a cat or other small critter, it is very hard to find anything to not like about this guy. :-) Shiloh came to GSRA from a former owner who had developed health problems that prevented her from continuing to care for him. He’s currently carrying more weight than is good for him, most likely because he didn’t get enough exercise in his previous situation. But as you can see in the vidoes below, Shiloh’s playful, especially if he has a fenced yard and a playful dog buddy, and is well on his way to running that extra weight off. Because of his high prey drive he cannot be off-leash in an unfenced area. Shiloh has an impressive big-dog bark that he uses when he’s excited – whether that means excited because he needs to alert you to something or simply excited about his current game (you can see this in one of the videos below). We sheppie people know this comes with the territory but your neighbors may be less impressed, so Shiloh is probably not appropriate for apartment living or other high-density housing situations. So what is Shiloh dreaming about in his perfect new life? Most of all, he’s dreaming about having LOTS of time with you, his new human. If you have other humans or dogs in your life too, well that would be fine with him – he doesn’t need an exclusive relationship. :-) And although he’d love a fenced yard to romp in, he could be happy without this IF you were committed to walking multiple miles with him every day. So what do you think, is this the dog for you? And more importantly, are you the human for him???
