Meet Karma, a beautiful two year old female German Shepherd. Her story is all too familiar; she gave birth to puppies and the owners kept the puppies and dumped poor Karma at the shelter. At first she was very scared and insecure. Karma has become a very confident and happy girl. She
is a petite girl and weighs about 55 lbs.
Karma enjoys being with people and hasn’t met a dog she didn’t want to nose bop. She is quite a jokester and clown. When meeting new people she gets very happy and engaged.
We don’t know if she ever had a yard to run in, but given the chance she gets the zoomies and runs like the wind with pure joy in her fenced in yard.
Karma had no training when she came to us but has learned her obedience very well. She
is an excellent walking companion and walks well on a leash. She doesn’t seem to have a high prey drive.
Karma lived with 5 young children before being abandoned and they were very rough with her. Therefore we will not place her in a home with children under 16. She can meet children and be very kind and gentle with them. But once they get too familiar or engage play with her she goes into her "twirl and spin mode", something she learned being around children who wanted to manhandle her. She is not aggressive in any way and will do this to avoid being hurt by them.
We also think Karma was mistreated at her last home by adults. She had a hard time trusting at first - when you went to pet her she would look at you as if waiting to be hit. It took a while to gain her trust and for her to allow us to pet her.
She would not go into a down-stay position for fear of being hit. With much love and patience, she has finally learned to trust and enjoys petting.
Karma loves other dogs and wants to play, although she can be a rough and tumble player. She does better with males dogs and we would not recommend a home with female dogs or small dogs.
Karma is doing really well with Linus, the resident senior cat. Linus stalks Karma and wants to lay and cuddle with her. She has been very patient and gentle with him. She would need proper and slow introduction with any new cat, especially younger cats that would run.
Karma is spayed, up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative, housebroken, obedience trained and crate trained.
She is a beautiful, loving, very affectionate girl and will make a wonderful companion to a lucky family. GERMAN SHEPHERD EXPERIENCE A MUST AND A HOME WITH A FULLY FENCED IN YARD.
