GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only

Greetings! It is me, big lovable Teddy checking in to tell you a bit about myself! I am a new addition to GSRA, and while I love my foster home, I am ready to find a family of my own. I am a pretty black and tan boy, with a fairly fluffy coat, especially around my neck. I am about 4 years old, and weigh 62 pounds...I could stand to gain a few more. I was very scared and shy when I first arrived, but now I have discovered that people are kind of neat! They feed me and pet me, and life is grand. I am learning how to play, and I have discovered that I really like attention! I am fine around other dogs....I don't really try to play with them, but am happy to amble around the yard and co-exist. I was cat tested at the shelter and seem scared of cats, but will have to be retested just to be sure.

I am still a bit shy and insecure. I am good in the house, and I am crate trained. My foster mom doesn't think I was ever in a house before coming into rescue....I was terrified of the hard wood floors, and all the strange sounds (TV, washing machine, etc). I have overcome most of these fears, and now run happily through the house. I will need a crate as I like to go there when I get nervous or unsure about something...it is my safe spot! I have a nice piece of carpet in the crate, and I have not been destructive.

I am getting more confident and happy by the day! I go right outside to take care of business, and then I happily wag my tail and play bow wanting my foster mom to play with me. I have found my voice too, and will bark or yodel for attention on occasion. I need to learn some manners...I am so excited to get some love and attention that I have started jumping up with enthusiasm. I am eager to go back in the house, and have no desire to be outside unless my person is with me.

From foster mom:
Teddy is a super sweet boy. We don't know anything about his past, however, we speculate that he was a yard dog that was given very little attention. He was very shy and insecure and timid when we first got him, but has been coming out of his shell and is turning out to be a very sweet and happy fellow. He gets scared and will crouch down if you raise your voice or make any sudden movements. He is very eager for attention, and will continue to build confidence with consistent interaction and positive reinforcement. He is a sweet guy that will be a great addition for some lucky family.

Teddy is heartworm positive, and will be beginning treatment in mid August.

Come meet this special boy soon!
