Hello! My name is Clarice, and I am a sweet girl looking for a special home. I am a beautiful bi-colored shepherd, and am approximately 4-5 years old (best guess). I am about 70 pounds, and have a nice thick and shiny coat. I am a quiet girl, and am very well behaved in the house and in my crate. I am very shy and insecure, and easily frightened by common items and stimulus. I have made great progress at my foster home, but will need a family that is going to be patient with me and continue working on building my confidence.

Once I am comfortable around you I am very friendly, funny, and animated. I like attention, and will play bow and happily run around the yard. My FAVORITE toys are pinecones. I kid you not, I LOVE pinecones!! I will run around tossing it in the air, catching it, shaking it etc. The first thing I do when I go outside is to look for a pinecone to carry around. I will let my foster mom explain things in more detail below. I look forward to meeting you soon!

From foster mom:
Clarice is a very unique girl. She is very sweet and attentive once she gets to know you and trust you. She will play bow and race around and sometimes even flip over for a quick belly rub. Clarice came to the rescue from a rural shelter, and was initially very shut down and terrified of everything....this dog must have been kept in a very isolated environment, because she was scared of everything.....cars, the sound of a car door, ceiling fans, hardwood floors, etc. She almost had a meltdown and started shaking and trembling when I first turned on the tv in her presence. It took her 3 days to learn how to go up and down a small flight of outside stairs on the deck....she was a mess. Clarice has slowly becoming desensitized to new stimulus, but will need a patient person to continue to work on her confidence and getting her used to everyday life.

Clarice will need a fenced yard....she does not do well on leash walks as she is scared of anything "new" and will not eliminate if she is spooked. She needs a fenced yard to have as a familiar comfort zone. Clarice thrives on structure, consistency, and familiarity. She has such an awesome personality when she is content and secure in her environment. She will be a fantastic and loyal companion to some lucky family. She just needs time and patience to allow her to overcome some of her insecurities.

We will be introducing her to some resident dogs in the next week or so. Now that she is acclimated to the home environment we can see her reaction to other dogs. She was to scared of everything initially, and it would not have been productive to try earlier.

Clarice has been spayed, and is waiting to undergo HW treatment. She will hopefully start treatment in early May, and be ready for her new home by mid June.
