German Shepherd Dog (short coat) : : Male (neutered)
OLLIE ~1.5 years old. Good with kids, dogs, and cats. Needs a companion animal. GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only Are you ready for some fun? Are you ready for a goofy dog that just thinks that everything is a game and is happy about anything that he sees? If so, keep on reading because that is Ollie! Ollie is a gorgeous young male, probably only about a-year-old. He is on the smaller side, closing in on 50 pounds, though he will probably get a little bigger. He has a short coat which does not shed much and the most expressive eyes I have seen on a dog. Ollie is a very happy boy, and has yet to meet a stranger! His tail just never stops wagging. Not much is known about his background, as he was picked up as a stray. Ollie does not know any commands, although with a little coaxing he will sit for a treat. He definitely needs some work in this area. Ollie thinks everything that is human and animal in nature is his friend! He lights up like a Christmas tree when he sees other dogs and will run right up to them wagging his tail! He just wants to play. He seems very friendly towards cats as well, although most of them do not appreciate his enthusiasm. That is a good word to describe little Ollie - He is a very enthusiastic dog! Everything is an adventure, and every day is a good day in his world! He is probably the happiest dog I have ever seen! Ollie is looking for a new home, but it is going to have to be a special home. Ollie is a special-needs dog. When we assessed him at the shelter, we noticed that he had a very awkward gait when moving around. He was x-rayed at the vet while he was neutered, and it was determined that he has abnormalities in his pelvic area. The vet feels that is it it is a genetic deformation, and not the result of an injury. Basically, Ollie has horrible hips. He is reasonable on one side, but the other side is just lacking in any sort of physical structure. The vet does feel that he may need surgery at some point, but the rescue will have a caveat in place to assist with an FHO in the future if needed. Ollie will not be good for a running or hiking buddy, but he will happily play in the yard and will slow down when he gets tired! Ollie is just a happy boy with not an aggressive bone in his body! He is even good with cats. All he wants to do is play with the other dogs, and get some attention from his people! Ollie is a lovely dog, and will really make somebody very happy with his exuberant personality and zest for life.
